crowetic on QDN

Welcome to crowetic's QDN presence. You can learn about many things here. Enjoy.

Qortal develops so quickly, keep updated at the weekly Qortal Think Tank!

Join us live every Tuesday at 10AM PST for the Qortal Think Tank- This is essentially the only way to stay fully up-to-date on everything going on with Qortal. The project develops at a VERY fast pace, so keeping this site updated with every new feature is quite difficult. Stay updated every week with the Qortal Think Tank.

Update December 2023 - Qortal-Think-Tank publishing is now taking place on Q-Tube, one of the newest Qortal Development Group Q-Apps.

Internet of the New World

Now that we are to the next phase of Qortal development, Q-Apps have been launched, along with the first major Q-App, Q-Blog! With Q-Blog you can publish content very easily, with a few clicks, and make it part of the ever-expanding world of QDN.

Come and create YOUR digital presence on a platform that will NEVER charge you continual fees, and where you actually OWN everything you create. One single publish on QDN, and your content is there indefinitely unless you say otherwise.

Click the links below to see some of the existing functionality possible on QDN websites, and now Q-Apps!

Q-Blog also has a built-in music and video player for the ability to browse while listening or watching your favorite content. You can Check out the 'Qortal-Think-Tank' Q-Blog to see a blog with multiple videos.

QDN Websites

Fully Functional Websites

On QDN's initial release, only what is called 'static content' was allowed. This included HTML/CSS/JS built websites.

Now, however, with the release of Q-Apps, additional content is very easily published and linked to existing QDN sites.

Expanding your site's content is now very simple. This website will give ideas of how to do that, as well as videos walking you through exactly how to create a website like this one with NO CODE KNOWLEDGE needed at all. Everything on this site was built in that fashion.

View From UI or Gateways

Websites and Q-Apps published on Qortal are always accessible via the Qortal UI.

Sites are also accessible through either a 'public gateway' or 'private gateway' from the internet. Public gateways allow access to ALL QDN content. Private gateways allow access to only one specific name's content. This makes sharing with non-node-running people very easy in a familiar fashion.

Express Your Identity

Create your own QDN website with any static web creator, or simply use Q-Blog and create your blog and make posts easily from within the Q-App.

Whether you are looking to completely re-build your existing 'internet' presence on Qortal, or just looking to start making use of the infrastructure of the future and publishing on Qortal to start testing that, now is the time to start if you haven't already.

The future of 'the internet' seems to be riddled with censorship and nonsense. Why not build somewhere that isn't ever going to be possible?

QDN Details

QDN is a data network unlike any other that has ever been built. It is a completely decentralized and distributed encrypted data network with a blockchain security and authentication layer. All of the data published on QDN is encrypted and chunked, even 'public data'. Due to this, unless the user accessing the data is using Qortal (with either a local node or 'gateway node') they cannot see any files. This means that ISPs cannot see the data, and neither can anyone viewing the data on a disk without viewing through Qortal.

Websites published on Qortal are built 'local'. This means that creating a site on Qortal is done by creating a site on your computer in a folder, then zipping that folder and publishing on QDN.

Linking from one Qortal name to another is now possible as well. Opening the doors for many new things to take place that were not possible in previous versions. As of version 4.0, Qortal has gained the huge new functionality of Q-Apps. Allowing 'rebuilding the internet' to really start taking place.

The theoretical potential of QDN is limitless, and as things continue to progress, the features will continue expanding as well. With the roll-out of Q-Apps, Qortal has gained a whole new level of potential functionality.

The initial version of QDN brought with it the ability to publish 'static websites'. Those are useful, but not nearly as useful as websites that allow authentication with Qortal accounts, file publishing, payment options, and much more that has come now with the release of Q-Apps.

This website is meant to be the place to come to learn about the new and exciting features made available on QDN, as they take place. It will be updated continually to demo new functionality, and provide instruction on how to make use of said functionality.

Q-Apps have ushered in a new era for Qortal, wherein the potential is practically limitless, and the sky's the limit on the practical use cases for the new and exciting features, Even with the existing 500MB 'single publish limit'.

Remember, QDN is not an 'upgrade' to the traditional internet, It is a complete REBUILD and REPLACEMENT of it. Therefore, no 'external links' (to 'the internet') will ever be possible on QDN. However, the previous limit that enforced having to have all of the files within a single-publish website is now removed! Cross-name linking allows expanded user interaction, expanded site functionality, and fundamental features that were previously not possible. All without reaching outside of the distributed network of QDN.

Websites, Q-Chat, Q-Blog posts, and more can now link directly to other content on QDN.

This functionality brings a whole new level of interactivity, and should spark quite a bit of creativity in existing web developers, allowing them to really build something special on Qortal.

All data still needs to reside on QDN, but with publishing multiple files/images/videos/music in various Q-Apps and linking to them from your website, there may as well be no limit!
